“A Thrifty Very Good Choice.”

October 2017: “For value for money, hospitality and great service, with a good location (about a 10mins walk to the Grand Canal and/or Piazza San Marco (St Marks Sq)), balancing all the pro’s and con’s, the Alloggi Barbaria (by a group of 4 (x2 couples)) was unanimously declared our favourite of the 3 hotels/B&B’s we stayed at on this Italian trip (and the others weren’t bad). The Alloggi Barbaria was day 1 & 2 of a 10 night Italian holiday from Venice, to Rome, to Sorrento…… using internal ‘Italo’ high speed bullet trains, which are brilliant and put the UK’s rail service to shame in terms of a  modernised transport system with much more reasonable ticket prices and reliability……. at a top speed of 300km per hour you literally can’t get from A to B faster in a Ferrari, (with no traffic lights and much cheaper too 🙂 The rooms are pretty basic but clean and well sized with everything you need; comfy bed, air-con, en-suite bathroom, free room safe, multi-lingual TV channels, fridge/freezer, serviced daily, with a breakfast that is ‘nothing fancy’, but good enough to ‘kick start’ you off for a good day of exploring Venice. We felt very welcomed by the couple who run this hotel, who have a friendly and relaxed non-intrusive approach with their guests (without any draconian rules like you can’t consume your own wine/beer on their outside terrace while you have a break in the sun and read a guide book etc). The lady who runs the ‘front of house’ aspect of things was very endearing and spoke very good English (much better than my Italian); she was a mine of information and able to answer any questions we had, i.e the nearby ferry location, price and timetables to get us to the train station in time for our next location (Rome). Our advice is simple, this place is well worth a visit to explore Venice and was worth every cent of the 99 euros per night room rate we paid (in what can otherwise be an expensive place). Very satisfied and we all agreed we would stay again in a heartbeat.” Harvey2k6 – Manchester, UK

It was easier than initially thought to find and the hosts were very warm and inviting to us. They had helpful advice on places to eat nearby and...
"Saved money by staying here!": November 2017: “This bed and breakfast budget friendly inn was very close to the airport just three stops on the vaporetto. Just a short walk towards the coop market and a right down the lane where you can see the sign easy five minutes perfect with luggage. When we arrived we rang the door be...
"Great away-from-the-bustle stay": October 2017: “Just got home after spending 8 nights at the Alloggi Barbaria. First, I must commend Fausto for being a great host. Prior to arrival, he always responded to emails promptly and with good answers to any questions. In person, he is even better. He took the time to help better my ...
