“Good basic accommodation”

The 31st of May 2012: “If you are looking for a simple, clean basic place to stay in Venice this is for you. Do not be put off by the exterior which is very unimpressive! The entrance is on the Calle Cappuccine which is a typical Venetian narrow walkway which leads out to the waterfront of the lagoon. The accomodation is up a stair which leads to a lobby which doubles as the breakfastroom. There is also a small terrace if weather is fine. The hotel has only a small number of rooms most of which open off this lobby. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room and bathroom were clean and had all the basic necessities. There was a small safe and minibar included. We found the hotel quite and exactly what we needed for a couple of nights in Venice without breaking the bank. We were able to check in at 10 am which was very convenient. Our breakfast was simple but adequate. The coffee was hot during our visit. The Alloggi Barbaria is within 5 minutes walk of the Ospedale waterbus stop and a few more minutes to the Fondamente Nove waterbus stop. From these you can get anywhere in Venice, to the Lido or to the islands of Murano, Burano etc..and also from Fondamente Nove to Marco Polo airport. The Rialto and St. Mark’s Square are about a 10/15 minute walk from the hotel. There is a supermarket about three minutes from the hotel. Out the door, turn right down the Calle Cappuccine to the waterfront then turn right and it’s about a minute in that direction. The hotel has free Wi-Fi. If you remember this is a 2 star hotel and do not expect 5 star facilites but are happy with a friendly clean place to sleep and a basic breakfast I would recommend the Alloggi Barbaria. We will definitely stay there again if we ever re visit Venice.

It was easier than initially thought to find and the hosts were very warm and inviting to us. They had helpful advice on places to eat nearby and...

"Great away-from-the-bustle stay": October 2017: “Just got home after spending 8 nights at the Alloggi Barbaria. First, I must commend Fausto for being a great host. Prior to arrival, he always responded to emails promptly and with good answers to any questions. In person, he is even better. He took the time to help better my ...
